The Style and Concept of French Furniture

All types of furniture come in different styles and they are what reflect the style of the room. French style has the look of vintage and antique, yet classy and elegant. Back to the 17th century and 18th centuries when the king and queen want the highest quality furniture and symbolizes prestigious for them, then the kings and queens will search and hire the most skilled craftsmen to create elegant pieces of furniture. Curve and the design is very popular among the craftsmen in the manufacture of furniture at that time. Cabriole chair legs resemble animal legs are also very popular. Complex lines, curves, and the carvings are very popular and sometimes gruesome carving. Brass and bronze are very commonly used to decorate furniture.

Beds, chairs, sofas and small tables of the most common of French furniture. They all have the same characteristics as detailed, curves, and classy style. They all serve different purposes and sometimes bring a different nature. For example you will see, a bed headboards are often very large made of hard wood and designed very complicated. On top of a small French table you will find especially the foot is what is designed and they are often equipped with cabriole style legs. They are not always complex as a place to sleep but the French style is very noticeable when looking at them.

Chairs and sofas are usually made of fabric and on the 17th and 18th centuries they use the most elegant materials. So the use of silk woven into the general quality and highest use of color distinguished according to the room that the furniture will be displayed. In today’s lifestyle is more common to find the furniture covered with cotton fabric. It is not as smooth as silk weaving, but more durable and will last longer. At present it is still possible to find antique furniture that are still using luxurious woven silk. But, cotton is more often used in French-style furniture today.

Shades of brown and white are usually the most common colors used. You can find some black pieces, and some in pastel colors, but, primarily brown and white are most popular colors. Stains of all shades are used to color the wood to the perfect color to fit you room.
